Consumer Church

Consumer Church
New Beginnings

Let's talk about the Consumer Church phenomenon. It's easy to show up and take in. Do I like what I hear, is there a personal profit, is it what I want today? Like going to the mall or a movie, it's all about me. Some things don’t change. Humanoids were like that in Jesus’ day.

Chuck Colson addressed this specifically with these direct words. 'I don't think the job of the church is to make people happy. It's to make them holy.’ I need to be challenged to care for the powerless and voiceless, like widows and orphans. I need to be challenged to protect and provide for those who can’t do those things for themselves; like the disabled, the ill, the aged forgotten one.

Happy, easy assignments? No, but holy ones.
